Who We Are

Founded in 1947 by Dr. Frank West, San Diego Orthopaedic Associates Medical Group, Inc. is the oldest orthopaedic medical practice in San Diego County. Our strength lies in the depth of education and experience of our physicians and clinical staff. SDOA has a diverse team of physicians who can diagnose and treat a wide range of surgical and non-surgical musculoskeletal conditions. We offer comprehensive care in all areas of orthopaedics, including: Sports Medicine, Hand, Foot, Ankle, Spine, Joint Replacement, Arthroscopy and Minimally Invasive Surgery. We accept most major insurances, including PPO’s, Medicare, MPMG, and Workers’ Compensation.

SDOA has been the team doctors for the San Diego State University Aztecs since 1998.

All SDOA physicians are board certified orthopaedic surgeons who have additional fellowship training in a specialized area of orthopaedics. Each one shares a similar insistence on excellence in patient care.

Workers' Compensation Services

At SDOA, we pride ourselves on our expertise in the treatment of occupational injuries. Our goal is to provide excellent medical care to the injured worker, while keeping the employer and insurance carrier apprised of the patient's treatment plan and disability status. We understand the importance of disability management and early return to work. We are familiar with evidence based medicine and follow the ACOEM guidelines.
